Textile Artist, London
Beauty, slightly hidden.
Scroll to cut through the layers.
Chapter I
First, the layers
Each work begins with a simple design laid on layers of colourful, opulent fabrics: silk upon velvet upon brocade.
Chapter II
Then, the cut
She cuts through the surface at different points and to different depths. What was hidden begins to glimmer through. A glimpse of something beautiful, never quite whole.
Chapter III
Venice, remembered
The Palazzo Dario series draws on the architectural detail of a Renaissance palace on the Grand Canal, first seen while studying art history in Venice. Its seeming fragility and ethereal beauty became a memory that never left her.
Chapter IV
Beyond the palazzo
Gardens, birds and still lifes. The same layered, incised technique, turned toward nature.
